We were just getting into the rhythm of summer—those long-awaited celebrations with friends, weekends at the cottage, and time to slow down and reconnect. We had some beautiful plans in place, and it felt like the season was finally unfolding the way we hoped.
But life had other plans.
Before we even got on the boat to celebrate our dear friend Stan’s 75th birthday (Jo-Anne Jones' husband), my husband had a serious fall in Toronto. It was scary. He’s now injured and out for at least six weeks. Just like that, our plans shifted. Retreats, gatherings, and summer traditions all paused.
It was a tough pill to swallow.
But as the dust settles, I’ve been thinking about how often this happens—maybe not always with an injury or an accident—but those moments when something we were looking forward to just... changes. And we're left to adjust.
Whether it's a summer plan, a personal goal, or something in our professional lives, curveballs come. Sometimes it's a client who cancels a long-awaited appointment.
Sometimes it's a career opportunity that doesn't pan out. Sometimes it's a team retreat we were excited to host… now postponed.
Here’s what I’ve been reminding myself—and maybe it’s something you need to hear today, too:
👉 It’s okay to feel disappointed.
👉 It’s okay to rest when life slows you down.
👉 And it’s more than okay to reimagine your plans.
This week, I encourage you to take a breath. Think about one area of your life—your schedule, your business, your practice—that might need a little grace or a fresh perspective.
Sometimes getting off track is what actually brings us back to what matters most.
Sending warm thoughts your way this week—especially if you're in a season that looks a little different than you expected.
Let’s keep each other On Track.
Warmly,
Kathleen
