The Power of the Reset Button

These past few days, I had the gift of spending time with my dear friend and colleague, Lorraine Gambacourt. We came together to work on our upcoming Meet Me at the Winery event—where Lorraine will be joining me as a special guest—and to plan for our laser program.

It’s always special when you get to work alongside friends—it doesn’t feel like work at all. We also took a walk through the woods near my home, where we could really feel and smell the shift to fall. Many leaves have already fallen due to the dry summer, and with the light rain and dampness in the air, the sound of the leaves crunching under our feet was such a grounding reminder of the season’s change.

As we walked, our conversation turned to the idea of the reset button—how sometimes we fall off our plans, lose our rhythm, or even our mojo. Yet we always have access to this internal reset button whenever we choose to press it.

This really resonated with me because my summer was not what I expected. My husband’s injury and surgery at the beginning of the season meant a summer filled with worry, hospital visits (an hour and a half away), and many heavy days. I completely fell out of my usual routine—no working out or biking, less walking, and fewer moments of stillness.

But this past week, with things looking brighter, I pressed that reset button.

Sometimes our reset is big—after a season of challenge or change. But it can also be small.

A reset can happen multiple times in a day. After a difficult patient interaction, an unkind word or action from a colleague, or when life just knocks you sideways, we can pause, breathe, remind ourselves who we are, shift our mindset, smile, and move forward.

My mom always said, “Carry on.” My daughter even has those words tattooed. And truly, that’s what the reset button allows us to do—carry on, with intention and positivity.

So today, I invite you to reflect:

👉 Where in your life could you use a reset?

👉 What would it look like if you pressed that button—today, even this moment?

The beauty is, it’s always in our control.

Let’s carry on. 💙

Warmly,

Kathleen
