That’s why staying connected is so important. It’s not just about reminders for their next appointment—it’s about continuing to educate, inspire, and share services they may not even be aware of. It’s about exceeding their expectations, because most offices don’t provide this level of communication.
When we don’t take the time to educate or share patient success stories, we miss a valuable opportunity—not just to inform, but to build trust, strengthen relationships, and reinforce the impact we have on our patients’ health.
How Often Should You Reach Out?
The key is consistency. Whether it’s once a month, once a season, or somewhere in between, choose a frequency you can realistically maintain.
The format doesn’t have to be complicated. A simple email, followed by a social media post, or even a printed flyer at the front desk can keep your name top of mind.
The Biggest Mistake? Starting and Stopping.
Ever notice when something starts strong and then disappears? Patients do too. If you commit to sending something out, follow through. It doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to be done.
When I started writing On-Track Tuesday in 2013, it used to take me days. I’d obsess over every word and send it to my husband for his thoughts. Now? It’s second nature. Like any muscle, writing (or any habit) gets stronger with use.
The same applies to staying in touch with your patients. Start where you can, and keep going.
