On-Track-Tuesday blog brought to you by Lorraine Gambacourt, RDH, Presenter and Laser Trainer with rdhu.

Take Time to Revel in the Stillness

For the past six months most of us have been hard at work, both clinically and academically, working on getting a good chunk of our 25 hours of continuing education taken care of and loaded into the SMILE portal. If this describes you, congratulations!! There is nothing worse than the feeling of impending doom and pressure come late fall if you’ve barely gotten started!

If this doesn’t describe you, have no fear. You can still avoid the stress of the feeling of what I just described… In fact, Beth Parkes and Kathleen Bokrossy can help you make that Mission Possible! It starts today; however, you can join in anytime over the summer and you will receive all the helpful emails, links to screen shares that walk you through the SMILE portal and any videos that they’ve created! (You will also have a chance to win some pretty amazing prizes!) Keep the Mission Possible Project communications in a separate folder and you will be able to access them any time.

The reality is—aside from our busy professional lives many of you have also had to juggle with and support your children with their online studies, and now that that is finally at an end for the summer months you are wondering how you are going to keep them occupied all summer!

Whether we have school age children, or we are empty nesters, summer months provide the perfect time to refresh and rejuvenate. The warmth makes us feel wonderful, we spend more time outdoors, and just naturally feel happier. You are also likely anticipating having some time off work to enjoy “Porta Backyarda” (with maybe an outing or to the Outlet mall?!)

I generally start my vacation time thinking I am going to get so much on my professional to do list done, but then end up ticking off absolutely nothing on that list, and instead end up simply revelling in the stillness. Just like the tide’s natural ebb and flow, when we’ve been on the go-go-go, we need time to simply “be”. Only then will we feel ready to take on a new spurt of learning and evolving. Within a couple of weeks you will be noticing things that invoke curiosity sparks, perhaps by scanning through some of the past The RDH View sessions if you didn’t have the chance to view live, or reviewing the courses listed in the ef="https://gm102.infusion-links.com/api/v1/click/5264030936989696/5446118316965888" >rdhq 2021 RDHQ series.

Those curiosity sparks harness, passion and stimulation of new ideas, (more on this in my next blog) and it’s the passion that stokes the fire and keeps us learning, growing, evolving and ready to help our next client transition to a whole new level of oral and systemic health.

Enjoy your “still” time!
