It is the Annual ODA ASM Meeting in Toronto this week! We have many people from all over Canada attend, so I wanted to send this out to all of our members, just in case you will be there.

This is revolutionary innovation right here that is being launched. The DNA testing is groundbreaking development in the field of oral health in Canada. Leveraging genetic insights will give us the opportunity to tailor preventive strategies even more. Do you think you would like to incorporate genetic testing in your practice? This isn't the bacterial testing of biofilm and saliva some of us are currently utilizing. This is genetic testing to see if your patients have the genetic markers for caries and/or periodontal disease. What do you think you would do differently if you knew a patient was predisposed to dental caries or periodontal disease? We have been doing DNA/genetic testing for years for uncovering risks for diseases like cancer or heart disease. Perhaps a patient who has a parent with Alzheimers or Cancer would want to know if they are predisposed to periodontal disease? It is interesting isn't it? We are on the precipice of great things and knowledge to make for a healthier world.
