We know many of our members are slowly getting back into practice.
Many of you have shared with us how you feel like your world has been turned upside down. In some provinces we have discrepancies between the DDS' and RDH's with IPAC and safety concerns. Some of our members are back to 'normal', some are working very part-time and some haven't returned yet and don't plan on it any time soon.
We are all in different stages during this process and you have to do what works for you.
There is one thing that I sure hope will change.
Our message to our clients and to the public during these times. Let's take this as an opportunity to make the appointment one of a medical appointment. It's a big deal now to have 'just a cleaning'. Everything that goes into an appointment, from the pre-screening, to bringing them in to your op, to the appointment, the dismissal, the donning and doffing.
It's a big deal. It's a medical appointment and a serious one. We save people's lives.
Now is the time to make a change.
I hope we embrace this opportunity and really shake things up. No more following the status quo. No more passing a brush and floss and saying "See you in 6 months".
(Not that everybody is doing this! But just as a whole...)
I know we are all still getting use to the PPE, aerosols, air purification, etc. but let's also use this time to really educate on the importance of this appointment.
There are many ways to share this message. And it's not just while the client is in your chair.
Let's take advantage of the opportunity we have been given and share the importance of oral health with the public and our clients.
Let's come out of this pandemic stronger as a profession with greater client compliance and better oral health outcomes.
I have had the opportunity to speak with many of you over the last little while since practices have slowly been opening up across the country and I think most of us are on the same page with this message.
I will be doing a webinar on this topic and will share the date with you next week.
I also wanted to say 'thank you' to our members, our presenters for giving back and our team for pivoting and taking on new roles.
You inspire us to do what we do!
We are all in this together!
Enjoy your week! Thank you for reading and for being a part of rdhu.
Please find info below for what is coming up and have a great week ahead!
Kindest regards,
Kathleen
